Water Supply

In 2013 over 6 million dollars was invested in the Oakland City Water System.  A new water plant was built and a 10″ water line was looped around the City, cutting the City’s water loss by 30%. The Old Lake provides water for the citizens of Oakland City and the alternate supply is the New Lake.

The Oakland City Water Department also purchases water from Patoka Lake.

Water Treatment

If you have an after-hours water/sewer emergency call the Gibson county Sheriff Department at 812-385-3496 to reach the person in charge.

The Oakland City Utility Office is in City Hall located at 301 S. Franklin Street.  You may contact the Utilities Clerk at 812-746-3222.

Residents wishing to start utility service should come to City Hall and have a picture ID.  The utilities require a deposit $120.00/sewer and $80.00/water.
